SECOND TITLE WORDS, QUOTE, OR NAME SECOND SUBTITLE WORDS, QUOTE, SOMETHING BACKGROUNDAges beyond ages ago, the world Yenni comes from was discovered by a small handful powerful entities. They observed the fleeting lives of the creatures on the planet and found themselves intrigued; the mortal beings were so very different from their own, governed by a complete separate set of rules of existence. They had fleeting lives that lasted barely the blink of an eye to the entities...and yet they were fascinated. Coveting this small world for themselves, one of the entities reached down into the world and took some humans for their own. These humans would later become known as "Chosen." Claiming humans allowed the entities to change and affect the world as they sawe fit; they were too powerful and abstract to enter the realm themselves. One entity made an attempt to enter, but their presence began to unravel it at the seams. Anything that gazed upon them went mad and reality began to warp until the surrounding area became an unrecognizable mess; an unsettling spatial anomaly in which life, time, and space no longer adhered to the rules of any reality. Mortals named this space The Mell and sealed it off with the help of other entities as they too sought to spread their own influence through the Chosen. Armed with the knowledge that they could not enter the mortal realm without corrupting it (and themselves), the entities began to engage in what would become an ages-long game of territorial conquest. While they couldn't interfere with it directly, they could "claim" portions of it and spread their influence and power through the granting of fractions of their power in the form of Divinity to their Chosen. A mad scramble broke out between the entities to see who could eventually claim the world as their own. Over time, these entities became known as "Gods" to the mortals of Yenni's world. Mortals worshipped them and strove to receive their blessings in order to realize their own goals. Magic and miracles and otherworldly beings entered the world of mortals, forever changing it. The Chosen became driving forces, shaping the land according to their Gods' influence--because of course receiving the powers of a god don't come without consequences. Each god-entity functions according to their own preferences: some select their Chosen from birth, via accumulated deeds, or by reasons only known to them. Receiving a god's Divinity will impact some kind of magic or ability to whoever receives it, but it also comes with a cost. This also varies from god to god, but the one constant is that a portion of whoever receives Divinity will be "overwritten" by the god who granted it. They become determined to see their god's will be done, and do not question their goals or wants. They have an ingrained, unconscious loyalty; no matter how they thought or felt before. Some Chosen even adopt certain communal traits from their gods: Other Gods in Yenni's world include: Aside from the desire to accumulate dominion over the mortal realm, the one trait the god-entities share in common is that they are absolutely mercurial, possessive, and petty. Many of the things humans have come to understand as "evil" are the result of their god simply not liking it. Some creatures natural to the world have been labelled as "monster" or "demons"; other existences created through Divinity by one god have become disliked or inconvenient to another, and thus their Chosen view them as the enemy. These labels are all arbitrary and differ from god to god with one exception: The Seed of Decay is an existence that even the entities themselves are subject to. It is a natural force, one which states that no matter how long something may exist, it too must one day fade and pass. Only then can the cycle of creation begin anew. The entities see The Seed of Decay as an inconvenience to their game and do everything they can to thwart its coming, for if it ever were to manifest, it would spell the end of Yenni's world. The moment the Seed of Decay appeared, the entity-gods all forced it upon their Chosen that The Seed and its Chosen were a calamity that could not be allowed to exist. It was the ultimate source of evil, and it should be destroyed at all cost. ENTER POOR LIL YENNI LIKE A THOUSAND YEARS LATER, who happens to be the Chosen of The Seed of Decay. An orphan from an early age, Yenni had only just begun his apprenticeship as a Gardener (caretaker)-in-training in the village of Morrowgate when tragedy befell him. A routine trip to the nearest town for supplies cut his life short when he was ambushed by bandits and left for dead on the side of the road. The Seed of Decay descended upon his body and filled him with its Divinity. Yenni was healed, but left forever changed. The god's power hollowed out a portion of his soul, leaving him both 'Yenni' and The Seed of Decay itself. Parts of him were overwritten with the god's will, leaving him with an ambivalence to death, pain, and suffering. He no longer felt the need for sleep or food or drink; he didn't feel pain. He didn't feel anything, but that was probably fine: all of that would only be a hindrance to him if he wanted to carry out his god's will! Yenni returned to town confused and covered in blood, which went about as well as can be expected!! He was apprehended by the guards, then given to the local doctor, then returned to the Gardeners. His mentor gave him a nice long lecture about everything and Yenni was put on probation...until the group of bandits Yenni warned the local guards about were found dead, as if they'd been that way for months. Suspecting that Yenni was cursed (or responsible), the Gardeners dismissed Yenni and he was voluntold to gtfo of the village, in so many words. So he did! Yenni only encountered one person on the road as he left: a hooded figure with a long trumpet from which no sound poured forth. Yenni greeted them, but there was no response. Confused, Yenni continued on his way with the intent of making it to the next town before nightfall. It would be months later that Yenni learned the village of Morrowgate had been wiped out overnight, the very same day he left. PERSONALITYDESPITE THE FACT THAT HE HOUSES THE DECAY GOD, Yenni is actually an okay-ish guy??? Or...was...before he was granted Divinity, oops. He's a caregiver at heart and aspires to become a Gardener: someone who looks after the infirmed or elderly long-term. They tend to be preferred over Chosen of the Nurturing Mother because they don't...you know. Kill their patients in the name of mercy. Yenni is an optimistist who tries to think on the bright side of things and believes that if he earnestly puts in the effort, he can achieve his goals. It's just that his goals now involve leading existence a she knows it to its ultimate end??? Life is so funny like that!! Yenni doesn't want to hurt anyone unnecessarily and doesn't have, like, murderous impulses or anything like that but he now sees the end of a life or esitence as a good thing! That's how the world is supposed to be! He feels genuine affection for his God and wants to make them happy, even if that means slowly losing himself to become an unstoppable force of entropy. Good times :D ABILITIESYenni is a Chosen Human. This is a human who has been given the gift of Divinity by one of the gods in WORLD NAME. A Chosen Human is (most of the time) not much different from a non-Chosen, although each Divinity is unique and affects the Chosen differently depending on which god has given them their power. In Yenni's case, he is the Chosen of The Seed of Decay, a god-like being who strives for the end of all things. This means he: The Effects of Divinity on non-Chosen are as follows: EXTRALorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Donec vestibulum purus ligula, quis tincidunt dolor placerat quis.
